The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) will strengthen cooperation with Europe.

KASA on Jan. 15 at its headquarters in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, hosted a seminar with the European Space Agency (ESA).

The two agencies shared technologies and research results in fields such as satellite navigation systems, space exploration, monitoring of the space environment and Earth observation. They also reviewed details of a bilateral memorandum of understanding.

ESA plans a mission to send a probe to the fifth Lagrange point or L5 to observe the space environment, and KASA will explore the L4 point. This has raised anticipation over cooperation between both sides.

Lagrange points are locations in space where objects can stay in position relative to another larger body. Because such points are easy to get to, many spacecraft perform their observations from these spots.

KASA Administrator Yoon Youngbin said, "KASA will continue striving to raise global space cooperation with ESA as well as individual ESA member states."

Based in Paris, ESA oversees space exploration and research by the Continent with 23 member countries.
