Korean beauty enthusiasts on Nov. 9 in Jakarta, Indonesia, attended a related seminar hosted by King Sejong Institute, a Seoul-based institution for spreading the Korean language and culture worldwide.
One of his main points was getting the perfect base. He said Korean celebrities often spend 30-40 minutes perfecting their foundation, emphasizing its importance for longevity and enhancement of natural features.
Kang also shared tips on blush application tailored to Asian facial structures, suggesting application just above the nose line for a lifted and balanced effect. He also discussed the trend of overlined lips, which he recommended finishing with a touch of gloss for added fullness and a fresh translucent look.
Given Indonesia's hot and humid climate, he suggested keeping skincare layers light and using lightweight and breathable textures to prevent makeup from sliding off, which can occur when thick layers create a barrier.
During the session, Kang showed professional makeup techniques like the use of a spatula to smooth foundation for a flawless finish. He also showed how using warming eyebrow pencils by hand to soften the wax for a more natural application.
Afterward, attendees got to practice the techniques presented using products. Kang moved around to offer personalized feedback.
The seminar wrapped up with an engaging Q&A, in which he shared his insights on adapting Korean beauty trends for Indonesia. Participants left with new skills, a deeper understanding of Korean beauty and goodie bag from the institute's Jakarta branch.
