This year marks the 30th anniversary of the musical "The Last Empress," which is based on the tumultuous life of Empress Myeongseong, wife of King Gojong of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).
This original production features Korean sentiment and majestic music in powerfully depicting the downfall of the dynasty. Debuting in 1995 at the Seoul Arts Center, "The Last Empress" in 1997 put domestic musicals on the global map by premiering on New York's Broadway.
