Lights of Korea - Jinju Lantern Festival in Brasilia
A resounding success in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with over 100,000 visitors in both cities, the immersive exhibition “Lights of Korea - Jinju Lantern Festival” is arriving in Brasília this month. After breaking attendance records at the MAC - Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói, since its inauguration by Oscar Niemeyer in 1996, the exhibition will now take over the first floor of Shopping Pátio Brasil, inviting visitors to explore the rich heritage of ancient Korean culture.
The “Lights of Korea - Jinju Lantern Festival” showcases one of Korea's most beloved cultural traditions, featuring 1,200 vibrant silk lanterns that blend harmoniously with contemporary scenic elements. The exhibition will be adorned with colorful tunnels of silk lanterns, originally from Jinju, a city that has hosted one of Korea's most iconic cultural festivals since 2003.
Organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Brazil, under the direction of Cheul Hong Kim, and the City Hall of Jinju, the exhibition is brought to life by the Industry, Commerce, and Tourism Involvement Fund (FEICOTUR). It is curated by journalist Ana Cláudia Guimarães, coordinated by NSM Productions and Events, and executed by HKB, with support from the Department of Tourism of the Federal District.
