The National Folk Museum of Korea is showcasing over 250 kokdu, or wooden figurines sculpted as humans, animals or plants from the Joseon Dynasty, donated by Kokdu Museum Director and lifelong kokdu collector Kim Ock-rang. Used to decorate a bier at a traditional funeral, the figurines offer a glimpse into how the nation's ancestors perceived life and death.
